Tasting commentary
Spring frosts, drought and heat waves have not had a say in this magnificent vintage, which, against all expectations, proves to be absolutely superb in balance, density and freshness. Very precise management of the vineyard was done in July and August, with applications of calcium and clay, to relieve the plant from heat, aeration of the foliage around the clusters, without stripping to keep a protective shade. The key to the vintage lies above all in the exceptional maturity of the Cabernets. They allow us to go and find a sumptuous material, a silky texture with a dense structure. The tannic balance of Malartic 2022 is thus particularly interesting: the Merlots, very slender and full of freshness come to bring volume and flexibility. The spectacular Petits Verdots, with a remarkable fruity and creamy, contribute with the Cabernet Franc to a great freshness, and a set of great aromatic.
