Tasting commentary
His magnificent vintage was superb in its balance, density and freshness, despite the fact that spring frosts, drought and heatwaves had not spared the vegetation around the vineyard. Very precise vineyard management was carried out in July and August, with applications of calcium and clay to relieve the plant of the heat, and aeration of the foliage around the bunches, without thinning out the leaves to maintain a protective shade. Harvesting began on August 2 for the whites, and continued rapidly until September 1. The white Malartics 2022 show great finesse, airiness and surprising freshness. The Sauvignons, in particular, are very expressive, with lovely tension. Very precise vinification and ageing have brought out a very fine sparkle.
